Nebishe Nerds: Jewish culture in video games
CLICK HERE TO ENTER ZOOM ROOM 12
Video games in Australia are a big deal. Two-thirds of all Australians play video games, 47% of whom are women, and in 2016 the Australian video games industry generated $2.96 billion dollars in revenue. It’s a growing medium for storytelling and cultural expression and a space for puzzles, play and creativity. What are they choosing to explore? Whose stories are they choosing to tell? Are any of them Jewish?

The games discussed - Bioshock, Wolfenstein and The Shivah - wrangle with traditional Jewish culture and deep questions and build fantastical worlds emerging from the ghosts of Jewish history.
