Rabbi Dr Israel Porush was the leading rabbi in Australia for over thirty years. He was the Chief Minister of The Great Synagogue, head of the Sydney Beth Din, President of the Australian rabbinical association, and enjoyed many other distinctions. He was born to a prominent rabbinical family in Jerusalem and was educated there and at the Berlin Rabbinical Seminary. He was the most accomplished scholar to lead The Great Synagogue and one of the most learned rabbis to work in Australia. We will explore his religious philosophy based on his writings and speeches over the course of his career.
