In a 2015 case of stolen identity, a white supremacist published a post on The Times of Israel using a Melbourne lawyer’s identity in a failed attempt to cause harm. The shocking incident raises questions about the meaning of “true” identity. Viewed through a Jewish lens, we consider our history of name switching, and our duty to both be who we are and become someone different.
