Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai’s decision to flee Jerusalem on the eve of Rome's destruction of the Second Temple and establish a Torah centre outside Jerusalem for the first time in history left Jerusalem vulnerable. Did R' Yochanan's decision influence the Yeshiva world of today? What effects are felt today since the establishment of Israel's Torah centre in Yavneh? Where is the Torah centre today? Why did R' Yochanan "jump ship" and leave his people to fight off the Romans? How did the Romans respond and was it controversial then?
